Every part of this project has a story behind it. When I look at the finished product, it amazes me how God brought it all together. I chose the title “Steppin’ Out Of The Boat” because that’s what it’s all about - getting out of my comfort zone and taking a leap of faith. Never did I imagine my life would be impacted so much by a Bible study! This title, this whole CD gives me a way to share how it changed my life. The cover photo fits perfectly. In Matthew, Peter stepped out of a boat, in the middle of a storm to get to Jesus. Often times, God asks us to do things while we’re in the middle of a storm. When we are at our lowest, our weakest, without hope, that is when He shines the brightest. The insert and back photo was taken by my husband, Alan, while he was in the United Arab Emirates with the Navy Reserves. He took this while on patrol in the Gulf of Oman. It speaks calm and peace to me. If we take a chance and trust in God in the middle of our storms, he will give us peace. The picture of me, Alan took at Dan Nicholas Park by the lake. I love the bright, beautiful, green leaves in the background. They are a reminder of how God fills us with light and life. Each one of the songs came at times in my life when I needed just what they had to say. One very special song is “He Knows My Name” by the McRaes. A dear friend of mine at church bought it for me. He said every time he heard it, he thought about me and all that I was going through. That touched me as much as the song did. Now, I’ve got to tell you about the photo on the CD itself. Alan took that one overseas as well. I felt the calm clarity of the water was perfect. It was beautiful, except for this “dot”. It was the sun and it fell just below the title. Every time I opened the case, the first thing that caught my eye was this “dot”. It really bothered me. Alan tried to manipulate the picture to hide the sun, but it didn’t work. I was telling a friend about it when it hit me. You know, one of those “Here’s your sign” moments. The focal point, that “dot” was the sun. Are we not supposed to be focused on God’s son? Sun…Son, a play on words, maybe, but it gets the point across. Whether we’re in the middle of a storm or sailing calmly on smooth waters, we should trust in Jesus and keep our eyes on him. Won’t you trust in God and step out of your boat, too? Come on in, the water’s fine!
