Steppin’ out of the Boat: It’s not only the title of my CD, it’s a way of life
now. And not just for me, but Alan, too! I never imagined the places God would
take us! And it’s all because we’ve been willing to step out of the boat, get
out of our comfort zone and follow him. As much as we’ve done, we want to do
so much more. There are so many Christians who need encouragement and
uplifting and oh, so many lost who need Jesus! How I wish we could reach them
all!
I
prayed a prayer not long ago asking God what I could do to help others in
spite of my limited resources and his answer was this: tell people. So here
goes. Serving the Lord is awesome and brings many blessings, but unfortunately
it can be costly…and our resources are limited. So I’m asking for your help.
Here are some things you may not realize about our ministry.
When I’m asked to sing somewhere, we don’t charge people. We simply ask for a
love offering. But it costs to travel, even locally. There’s not only fuel and
maintenance for the truck, but the trailer as well. Then there are
accommodation costs and meals when it requires an overnight or longer stay.
And as much as I hate shopping, there are added clothing expenses as well. We
try to keep costs down by using soundtracks. It’s more economical to carry a
CD book that to have a band and all their instruments and gear. And Alan does
all the towing, setting up, running and taking down of the equipment,
photography, and so much more! I can’t count the number of jobs he has!
Now, many people have asked me when I’m going to record another CD. It’s hard
to say how many people have been reached through ‘Steppin’ Out of the Boat’. I
wish I could get back in the studio! The material is there. I’ve actually got
enough material to do 2 CD’s right now. Unfortunately making a CD is very
expensive. Steppin Out of the Boat was done with money we had saved while Alan
was overseas. The money was intended for something else, but we felt led to
use it for the CD instead. Since then, the cost of recording has gone up (if
you do it right).
There’s not only the studio time but layout and artwork or photography,
jackets and copies that come into play. Not to mention the cost of licensing
releases. Then there’s radio airtime. Many have asked why I’m not on the
radio. That costs too. You need a national record label or be willing to pay
promotional fees to companies who can get your name out there. I know when the
time is right another CD will happen. I just wish others were as patient as we
are!
Next is the radio program for WVSG radio.com. We don’t get paid for doing that
program, it’s done voluntarily. The recorder, computer software and other
resources we purchase come solely out of pocket. But it’s been well worth it.
This station reaches over 100 countries worldwide and has millions of
listeners. We’re always looking for up to date materials to help us accurately
share God’s word with the world. The thing that amazes me is that we have no
idea how many people have accepted Christ during one of our programs. Each
week it thrills my soul to ask “Do you know Jesus? Would you like to?” If just
one person comes to know Christ! WOW!
Jesus tells us in Luke chapter 10 verse 2: "The harvest truly is great, but
the laborers are few; therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out
laborers into His harvest.”
Will you join us in our efforts to bring in the harvest? On our own we can’t
do a whole lot, but together we can accomplish much. Would you prayerfully
consider making a financial donation to help support our ministry? Yes, God
provides, but he could do it through folks like you.
Thank you and God bless.
