Don’t look back

     Going out to Colorado in February 2007 to bring Chris home was an emotional trip for me.  Alan hadn’t been home long, we had just started the CD project and now Chris was coming home.  New chapters were beginning for all of us.

    Chris wasn’t a kid anymore and we were beginning a new ministry.  Were we headed in the right direction?  Is this really what God wanted us to do?  What if we were wrong?  So many questions, doubts and fears, how easy it would have been to turn around and go back to the way things were before.

     Thank God he speaks to us in so many ways!  As we headed west, on that long stretch of Kansas road, that early February morning, the eastern sky exploded with brilliant color.  It was as if God was reminding me not to look back, that he was there behind me-would always be there for me-and to focus on the road ahead.

     Looking ahead can be scary, not knowing what will come.  There is comfort in the past; it’s easy to stay with what’s familiar.  But God wants us out of our comfort zone.  He wants us to trust in him and keep moving forward on this road called life.  With each step taken, each mile travelled we get closer and closer to him.
