Discover…the word means ‘to come upon, find out, make known or realize, especially for the first time’.  We all like to discover things, whether it’s a new restaurant, a new recipe, a collector’s item at a yard sale, a shortcut that saves us time, whatever.  We’re always looking for something new, something different.  We get bored with the same old things all the time.  We get restless when we get in a familiar routine.  We want out…we want to be rescued.  We want new and different and exciting.  We’re constantly on the lookout.  The world knows this and that’s why technology is ever changing, always introducing new things they want us to believe that we have to have.  But the truth is many of those things we can do without…and it wouldn’t hurt us a bit.  But there is one thing…something you may already have in your possession that is alive and ever changing.  No matter how many times you go to it and use it, it never wears out, it never becomes outdated or obsolete, and it never becomes boring. And it’s something we can’t live, not truly live without. That something is the Bible, God’s holy word.  No matter how many times you read it it’s never the same.  Now, the words themselves don’t change, but their meanings do. Herein lies the magic; the mystery. How can the words remain the same, but not their meaning?  Because according to John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” God’s word is alive.  It’s one of the ways that He speaks to us, if and when we let Him. His message to us changes as our lives change.  The decisions we face, the choices we make, the condition of our hearts, the situations in our lives…all these things God knows. And when we seek His face and search His word we can find all the answers we need for everything going on in our lives.  As we open our hearts to Him, He opens our eyes to discover things that were once hidden, things that before we couldn’t understand.  Each turn of the page brings new discoveries, the pages springing to life in our hands!  It’s filled with life examples for us to follow, warnings about the enemy and what to stay away from, scolding when we don’t obey, God’s promises, His grace, mercy and love…oh yes… LOVE.  The whole New Testament is God’s love letter to us. He wants us to open it and read it often.  He wants us to keep its words in our hearts, to cherish it because it is a rare and precious gift; the only one of its kind.  This gift is ours for the taking.  Will you accept this gift?  Will you take the time to open it to see what you might discover?  We’d like to invite you to join us each weekend at 4pm for Discovering the Word at www.wvsgradio.com. Each week we seek to discover more about God and His word and what it means for us today.  We’d love for you to join us and we’d also love for you to share any questions you may have or ideas you may have for an upcoming program.  This program isn’t just mine and Alan’s.  It’s yours, too.  Won’t you come be apart?  Again that’s every Saturday and Sunday at 4pm on wvsgradio.com.  Come see what we discover!
