“Rottie”
We used to have a German Rottweiler named Warlock. He looked really ferocious and probably could be if provoked. But with us, he was like a lap dog, a really big lap dog. We took him in when his previous owner could no longer care for him. We were blessed to have him as a part of our family for ten years, before system failure took him from us. He died right after Christmas 2005. It was really hard for Alan. He had known him since he was a puppy and loved him dearly. The very next month Alan had to leave on his second deployment. He was on his way to the United Arab Emirates.
Rottie is so soft and cuddly! There were many nights I fell asleep with him tucked within my arms. Holding him close seemed to make Alan feel close, too. He was a great comfort to me while Alan was gone. When we got our trailer we decided to put Rottie and our other friend Winnie in there to keep us company when on the road. Every time I look at him I get the feeling that Warlock is somewhere watching over us. He sure did love to go for rides. |
