“Winnie”

  We got Winnie when the grocery store Winn Dixie had a promotion going on to advertise the movie “Because of Winn Dixie”.  It was about a stray dog that no one wanted except a little girl in need of a friend.  Of course, I had to try to get one of those cute little dogs!   Winnie reminds me of a dog we used to have.

     Cheyenne wasn’t a stray, but she had a knack for getting out of her kennel and getting into things.  Alan helped get her back to her owners one time and it was then he discovered her owners were talking about giving her away.  There was something special about her, so, you guessed it; we ended up with her.  Just as Winn Dixie changed a little girl’s life, Cheyenne changed ours.  She was so loving and protective; always watching over us.  She was our little girl for a long time, until cancer took her from us.

      I can’t help but think about Cheyenne when I look at Winnie.  She, too, holds a place of honor in our trailer.  We consider her and Rottie to be our faithful roadies.
